Plagiarism

I think that the university was a little harsh with their punishment of “academic dishonesty” when there were students who were drunk in public that didn’t get that hard of a punishment. In reality no one should actually plagiarize; however, it happens more frequently than people think. How easy is it to copy and paste something from an online source? It seems the more that technology advances the easier it becomes for anyone to “just get it done with”. I think its funny how that there were so many people that turned in the same paper, and received different grades. I’ve heard of teachers grading differently, or some grading on a curve but really how did they not notice that their students were writing the same thing? In the end I believe that in the case of Mark Gruntz, and having three semesters of hard work taken from him over one paper is way harsh. Granted I know that you have to set the bar for other students, and I’m sure that students watching what has happened to Mark Gruntz had made a impact on how they write, and making sure they site their work.

-That's HOT-

I think that the role of the media plays a huge part of how people think that they should look on a day to day basis. Everyone typically sees the People magazines in the stores when your checking out, and you normally look at them and criticize how the people on the cover look, or even see what articles are being talked about. The majority of our culture wants to be cool. The trends in fashion really make an impact on everyone. Looking at little kids in today’s society, they look up to some interesting role models. Where it use to be that little boys looked up to their dads, or G.I. Joe, they now look up to professional athletes who are taking performance enhancing steroids. Little girls, who use to look up to their moms, or Barbie, now look up to Paris Hilton or Britney Spears. The more the media shows how Britney Spears latest freak out got what she wanted, why wouldn't little girls think hey if Britney can shave her head and still look good. Then they might be able to do something totally crazy and get away with it and it will be accepted. While the magazines focus in on what's hot this month the youth of this society is following it.

Election Results

My only thoughts about this election, and its results is.... YAY! I hope this turns everthing around. With the last 8 years being under the influence on some random monkey, with no thought process for common sense. I'm veryhappy that when there is a speech to the nation coming from our President we will be able to understand them without the made up words. Anouther thought is that I'm some what fearful that Mr. Obama may have a short term. This is history to have a black President after all of the hardships that this country has been through. There were so many young voters who spoke their opinions in the election. And the last time that this happened was in the Kenndey election, I just hope it doesn't end the same.

Letter to the President

Dear President Obama,
I must say how I am so happy that the democratic party has took back the white house. I cannot wait until January when you and your can start the next chapter of this nation's life. My only hope is that all of the nation's faith will help and support you through these times. I know there will be though times ahead, and you have my full support. You have made history! The first black president, you must be so proud. My one fear is that there maybe people who do not like the out come of this election and that you may have a short term, I hope this does not happen because I can see that you have many plans to helo this nation and make a brighter future.
